The inspiration for this miniature comes from that feeling of light changing at the end of summer and reminiscing on back-to-school days living in a university town.
I’ve always found the passage of time in a laundromat very fascinating. Thinking about what people do to occupy themselves, the things they bring, the things they leave, the company they may encounter.
With less and less people using laundromats, and more owning their own washing machine, this miniature functions both as a time capsule of a world past as well as a world reimagined from the repurposed materials used to create it.
I see it as A portal created with dental floss containers, makeup blender packaging, and free sample face lotion tubes.
